Old Hampshire Mapped has digitised images of early printed maps of Hampshire, from Saxton 1575 onward. The site includes maps by:- Saxton 1575; Norden 1595; Speed 1611; Keer 1620; Blaeu 1645; Blome 1673; Ogilby 1675; Morden 1676; Morden 1695; Senex 1719; Bowen 1720; Kitchin 1751; Kitchin 1767; Harrison 1788; Milne 1791 (Faden); Ordnance Survey 1st series 1810s; Mogg 1814; Perrot 1823; Greenwood 1826; etc. All the maps are presented clearly, and a number of the county maps and the road strip maps are analysed in some detail with place name gazetteers. There is supporting descriptive text by Leland 1535-43; Camden 1610 translation; Defoe 1724; Cox 1738; Cobbett 1832; etc. Where possible raw data, comma delimited files of place name data, and images files of the map and analysed layers, are made available.

Please note that the version supplied will not have the few pages of relief data relating to Ogilby routes, that are accessible on the web version. This is for reasons of Ordnance Survey copyright in the original factual data.

Old Hampshire Gazetteer is a companion project to the maps. It is a gazetteer of about 8000 places in Hampshire supported by images from early printed maps, and quotes from early travellers and others.
